Greek Mountain Tea BIO* – a miracle in a cup
The sideritis syriaca plant, also known as ironwort, mountain tea or shepherd’s tea, is very common in the Mediterranean region. Its use as herbal medicine, usually in form of a herbal infusion, is well known and said to be helpful with a lot of medical issues.
The Greek Mountain Tea is – as the name suggests – very popular in Greece, but also in Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania. Very often the stems, leaves and flowers are boiled in a pot of water, then strained and served with honey or lemon or both.
Greek Mountain Tea or Ironwort is traditionally used to help with digestion, but also said to strengthen the immune system and to prevent a cold, the flu and other viruses due.
It is scientifically proven, that ironwort is anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant. Scientist also found out that it can help to prevent a cold, flu and allergies.
Greek Mountain Herbs are also tested in Alzheimer’s research at the moment. So far they found out that it helps to support the memory function as well.
The Greek Mountain Herbs have an mood uplifting effect as well which apparently is better than St. John’s Wort and might also help if you suffer from anxiety.
How to prepare:
traditionally you would put 1 1/2 cup of waters and 1-2 tablespoons full of the herbs in a pan, heat it and let it boil for 4-5 minutes. Then strain it and serve with honey and a bit of lemon.

This is a lovely quality tea, packed with flowers. Brewed as per instructions and it was really nice, soft flavour, very drinkable. I will definately re order this
