Hojicha BIO* – a premium tea from Japan
Translated, Hõjicha means „roasted tea“ or, to be more precisely, it means „roasted green tea“.
Usually simple Sencha and Bancha teas are used for roasting. During the roasting process, the tea leaves become brown and at first look like any other black tea.
However, the taste of Hõjicha is completely different compared to black or green tea. It has a sweet and nutty flavour with a slight caramel note.
This Hojicha comes from the large Shizuoka prefecture, Hõjicha is relatively unknown outside Japan whereas in Japan itself it is know as one of the best premium teas.
